Saints Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati Canonized – September 7, 2025.

On September 7, 2025, at St. Peter’s Square in Rome, Pope Leo XIV canonized Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati. This historic celebration was especially meaningful as Carlo Acutis became the Church’s first millennial saint (Reuters 2025; Vatican News 2025).

Saint Carlo Acutis (1991–2006)

Born in London and raised in Milan, Carlo died at just 15 from leukemia. He was deeply devoted to the Eucharist and created a website cataloguing Eucharistic miracles, using his tech gifts to share the faith with the world. Nicknamed “God’s Influencer,” he balanced his love for the internet and games with prayer, daily Mass, and acts of charity. Two Vatican-approved miracles, including the healing of a Brazilian boy, paved the way for his sainthood (People 2025; NY Post 2025).

Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901–1925)

Born in Turin, Italy, Pier Giorgio was active in Catholic social movements like Catholic Action and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Known for his joyful personality and love for the poor, he often climbed mountains with friends, earning the nickname “saint of the peaks.” Although from a wealthy family, he lived a life of service and prayer, showing how lay Catholics can live heroic virtue in ordinary life. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1990 (Catholic News Agency 2025).

A Witness for Our Times

The canonization of Saints Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati reminds the Church that holiness is not reserved for clergy or religious but is possible in everyday life. Their lives of prayer, service, and joy show that sanctity can flourish in the digital age and in the heart of the modern world.
