Theme: Be on Fire for Jesus
(Acts 16:11-15, Ps 149,Jn 15:26-16:4)
The apostle Paul and his companions as well as the early Christians were on fire for Jesus. As Scripture says ” Zeal of my Father’s house consumes me “.They dedicated their entire life to serve God. But this was not possible if the Holy Spirit was not in charge of their lives.
Our being in this world should be preoccupied by the fact of serving God. We shouldn’t allow worldly materials to distract us from focussing on the kingdom business. As Jesus said his mission on this earth is to do the will of his Father. Our daily task is to do the will of God in our lives. This should be our prayer always.
Carrying out the will of God in our lives comes with some challenges. We can be persecuted in various ways. Some people may even lose their lives because of their faith, as it is happening in some parts of the world. People will hate us because of our faith in Jesus. But once the Holy Spirit continues to dwell in us and he being our advocate, then there is no need to be afraid. Continue to endure in your faith to live for Christ. It is better to be hated by people because of Christ than to be loved and praised by everybody. Be God centered and work for him without any reservations.
May the Holy Spirit help us and set us to be on fire for Jesus. Amen . Have a Blessed Week.

Theme: Prayer can move Mountains
( Acts 16: 22-34,Ps 138, Jn 16:5-11)
There is power in a faithful prayer. Paul and Silas were arrested and imprisoned on account of their faith in Jesus. But they didn’t keep silent, they woke up at midnight and prayed till something happened. The chains on them fell off and the prison doors opened. That’s the power of prayer made in faith.
Persistent prayer can change things in our lives. Difficult situations will come but with prayer we shall overcome. I pray God to deliver us today from all forms of physical and spiritual imprisonment. Continue to pray till the chains and the prison doors open. Never give up in your prayer life. Pray till something happens.
May the power of the Holy Spirit touch us today and make us continue to be prayerful always in our lives as Christians. Amen.
Have a Blessed Day.

Theme: God’s word will always Convict People
( Acts 17: 15.22-18:1,Ps 148, Jn 16:12-15)
The Areopagus experience of Paul in Athens is a big lesson for all of us. Our interest in proclaiming the message of Christ should not be about converting multitudes or large number of people. We will become frustrated when we are motivated with such mindset. Our duty is to proclaim the message and leave the aspect of conversion and acceptance to the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who touches the hearts of people to accept the message of Christ. Paul would have been disappointed if he was expecting large numbers to accept his message at that moment. We are told only a handful of people believed in his message. The greater majority left him and made him to understand that they’re not interested. May be those who accepted the message at that moment were the reason why God sent him there at that particular time.
What we should know is that God will always touch someone when his message is proclaimed. Sometimes the numbers can be there as was the case of Peter’s speech after Pentecost, but other times too the case is different as we experienced today. But the experience has been that we always look out for the multitudes. Some of us become very disappointed if we go to places to spread the word of God or even to conduct church service and we find a handful of people. Maybe that day it is a particular soul that’s why you were sent there. When even one soul repents , the whole heavenly host is thrown into joyous moment according scriptures.
When we allow pride to takeover our ministry, then we think that it is by our power. We push God aside and make the people to focus on us. Meanwhile without God we can do nothing, in fact we are powerless without him. Play your part as a child of God and allow God to also do his part.
May the power of the Holy Spirit touch us today and make us continue to focus on proclaiming the message of Christ both in deed and word, but not to focus on numbers of acceptance. Amen.
Have a Blessed Day.

The Ascension of the Lord
Theme: Be an Ambassador of Christ
( Acts 1: 1-11,Ps 47, Eph 1 :17-43, Mat 28:16-20)
The fact that Jesus left his disciples to his Father means that, they are to carry on with his mission. Truly they fulfilled this call by dedicating their entire life to the spreading of the message of Christ. Some have to die for carrying out this mandate by Christ.
We are also called to continue what the early Christians begun. It is you and I our turn to pay our due to what have been done by great men and women over the ages. Jesus is no more present with us physically, hence we have to become his instruments in this world. The Christian life is one of witness to Jesus in a world which has lost reverence for God. To be his ambassadors means we have to be credible witnesses and not actors. A life of hypocrisy will betray our basic calling as his ambassadors. The nature of our world today brings a great demand on us to be really different and be his true witnesses. It is a great responsibility that needs no compromise.
May the power of the Holy Spirit touch us today and make us his true witnesses in this world. Amen.
Have a Blessed Day and Happy Feast.

Theme: Your Suffering shall end in Joy
( Acts 18: 9-18,Ps 47, Jn 16:20-23)
When a woman is in labour, it is painful but she doesn’t remember all these pains after labor. Our journey as people of faith comes with a lot of sufferings and difficult moments. But God will see us through these moments and bring us total joy at the end. The early Christians went through a lot on account of their faith. But at the end they overcame these mountains in their lives. They even rejoiced over suffering for the sake of Christ. Some of these sufferings are necessary for our growth in faith.
Remember Jesus is with you in such moments of life. Sometimes some of us feel we have been abandoned by Jesus when we are overwhelmed with difficult situations. Your troubles will come to an end one day, for that I promise. You may not even remember those painful situations. We should accept that life is full of ups and downs, sadness and joy. We should be ready for these situations.
But mostly we don’t like to experience sorrow in our lives, but there can’t be a life without sorrow. Sometimes Good Friday must come before Easter Sunday in our lives.
May the Holy Spirit help us to endure suffering whiles we hope for a good future. Amen.
Have a Blessed Day.

Theme: Humble Yourself to Learn from Others.
(Acts 18: 23-28,Ps 47, Jn 16:23-28)
Apollos humbled himself to learn from Priscilla and Aquila. This was a man who was well versed in scriptures, spoke and taught accurately of the things of Jesus. But he needed to know more about Jesus. He sat at the feet of this couple to mature in his faith in Jesus. Somebody else would have rubbished this couple. After all he was a scripture scholar. And this couple what do they know to offer him.
We can never grow in our faith if we are not ready to learn from others. Some of us are full of ourselves that nothing new can be added to us. We even know more than Jesus who has called us. No wonder we have become stagnant in faith. The I know, I know is becoming too much in our Christian lives. If you and I could allow ourselves to be taught, I think God will use us to perform mighty deeds in the lives of people.
We have the potential to become great instruments of God. The Holy Spirit doesn’t dwell in souls full of pride. Pride is a mark of Satan and we can’t claim to be for God if we continue to be ruled by pride. If you humble yourself, a Sunday school child can teach you something, an usher can teach you something about Jesus you have never taught of. Let’s be opened to learn from others.
May the Holy Spirit burn every pride in us so that we can bend at the feet of others to mature in our faith. Amen.
Have a Blessed Weekend.
