Theme: Remain under the favour of God
(2 Kgs 17:5-8,13-15,18,Ps 60,Mt 7:1-5)

The Israelites lost the favour of God in their lives, hence they lost their battles. God abandoned them into the hands of their enemies. In this case, into the hands of Assyria. The Assyrians conquered Israel and took them into exile. Why did they lose favour in God’s sight? Because of their sinful acts. They abandoned the ways of God and took to evil ways. The first reading states that, they became stiff- necked people who rejected the laws of God. Even when he sent prophets and seers to warn them, they didn’t listen. So in his great anger, the Lord put Israel away out of his sight. Sin destroys and blocks God’s blessings upon our lives.

Beloved, the Jesus- effect or the God effect is very important in our lives. It is his favour and his presence that brings success in our lives. The favour of God can lift us to any level in life. If you want to reach that level you have been dreaming of, then you need that favour. When the favour of God is upon you, success follows you wherever you go. In fact, even people who come into contact with you are blessed. Your very life is a testimony of God’s favours upon you. Where people go and fail, you will go and succeed. Your very life is a marvel to people. People can try all they could to destroy you, but the more they try, the more they fail. Because you are under a certain protection which makes you untouchable.

But when the favour eludes you, then you become like the Israelites.Nothing seems to work in your life. Everything seems to fall apart. Of course, sometimes the Lord also allows certain evils to befall us for his own glorification. You may be going through certain challenges in life which is not necessarily because you have lost his favor in your life. When king Saul lost God’s favour,he became an unhappy person. His life was shattered into pieces.

Sin is the cause of all these things. I invite you to check yourself this moment and assess your life very well. Maybe you are not doing something right before God. And that might be the cause of your problems in life. Sometimes it may not be you but from family line. This is what we call the ancestral curses. In this case, you need a total deliverance from God. You have to make all efforts to stay under the favour of God. We must swim in his favours in order to have our breakthroughs in life. The favour of God can break all curses, all barriers, all impossible situations.

May God help us to always find favour in his sight. Amen. Have a blessed week.

Theme: Don’t be afraid of your Persecutors
( 2 Kgs 19:9-11,14-21,31-35,36,Ps48, Matt 7: 6,12-14)

Sennacherib, king of Assyria continued his terrorizing mood of the other nations and Judah was of no exception. Assyria was one of the powerful empires which dominated the world. Of course, king Hezekiah knew that without God they can’t stand the Assyrians for a second. Hence, he went to the temple to pray for a divine intervention. With God on their side they defeated the Assyrians. He was afraid of Sennacherib, but God made him to know that with him on their side there is no need to fear.

God will not abandon you in the hands of your adversaries. People will always plan evil for you, but God will always rescue you from their evil intentions. They will fabricate stories and project negative images about you. Just trust in the powerful hand of God. It doesn’t matter the kind of prison they have kept you, whether spiritual or physical, God will come to your aid. All their efforts will come to nothing. In fact, they will fail. They themselves will come to appreciate the hand of God upon you and give testimony to people about that.

When your persecutors threaten you stand firm and look up to God for your protection and deliverance. Your God will never abandon you in their hands. They may seem to be on the winning side but God will come to your aid at the right moment. Continue to be the conscience to them, especially in this corrupt world of our time. When everybody seems to be enjoying the fruits of corruption.

As I have always said, evil can never triumph over good. It is just a matter of time. What you are going through will come to an end one day. Be patient and wait on the Lord in prayer. I know some of us are having sleepless night and are in pain because of persecutions in our work places, homes, churches, and so forth. Jesus is with you. Tell yourself I am an overcomer and I will never give up, for the Lord is on my side.

May God come to deliver us from our persecutors.
Amen.
Have a Blessed Day.

Solemnity of the Birth of John the Baptist
Theme: Believe in the Promises of God
( Is 49:1-6, Ps 139, Acts 13:22-26, Lk 1:57-66,80)

Some people have been wondering why Zechariah and Mary all gave the same response to angel Gabriel, but only Zechariah was punished for lack of faith ( Lk 1:19-20).

Yes, indeed Zechariah deserves it. This was a priest of God who has served God all his life. Therefore, it is expected that he should be a man who has matured in his faith. He was not a baby in the faith like Mary. This was a man who has been encouraging his people to trust in the promises of God without any reservations. Besides, he has been praying for a child all this while. Therefore, he had no reason to doubt the words of Gabriel.
He should have rather been happy and rejoicing because his prayers have been answered but not doubt the words of Gabriel.

Mary was a baby in the faith, therefore it was understandable for such a small girl to verify how a miracle of such sort can happen. Even after the angels response she offered herself totally to the will of God. May it be done to me according to your will. Lk 1:38.
We are not different from Zechariah , always doubting God. Even when the very things we are praying for becomes a reality, we doubt it. As angel Gabriel told Mary, what is impossible to God? I mean what is it that God can’t do? What God can’t do doesn’t exist.

Believe in God that no matter your situation, he can turn things around. Don’t wait for the thing to happen before you now believe. Precisely why Zechariah had to wait for it to happen before he could talk. Don’t doubt the power of God in your life. The God you and I serve can do anything in this world, because he is God.

May the Holy Spirit help us to always mature in our faith in God and trust in his promises always . Amen.
Have a Blessed day.

Theme:Don’t be an external Christian
(2 Kgs 24:8-17,Ps 79, Matt 7: 21-29)

Beloved, Jesus is teaching us today that Christianity is not all about following rules but serving him from our hearts. The Pharisees and Scribes were only following rules but their hearts were very far away from God. They were only doing lip service. Religiosity was their way of life, meanwhile they had no personal relationship with God.

Again, Jesus is warning them against the life of hypocrisy. A hypocrite is one who portrays what he or she is not. They presented themselves to the people to be holy religious leaders, but in reality they were very sinful. They were not what they claimed to be. They were living lives of deception.

Our case is not different from these people. Don’t be a Pharisee or a Scribe of our time. A life of deception is a disaster. By the way, whom are you deceiving? Of course, you are deceiving yourself. Because if you present yourself to be a prayerful person but in reality you are not, then you are doing yourself no good. When you die without repenting you will have no place in God’s kingdom. It is your own soul that you are destroying.

The Lord Jesus invites us to worship Him from our hearts and not with lip service. Hypocrites worship God with their lips but not their hearts. Most of us are only lip service Christians. We do things to please people, but our hearts are very far from God. It is one thing to be religious and another to be spiritual. You can be religious by following rules and regulations strictly, but you might not be doing it with your heart. We are called to be authentic Christians not hypocrites.

Being a Christian is not about being punctual at church, paying your dues, going for communion always, giving offering and offertory always, and the list continue. Some of us are so strict with following rules by the church, but we don’t have any personal relationship with Jesus.

Most of us Christians of today are becoming more hypocrites than ever. We are external Christians who are superficial with our religiosity. In fact, we can be called fake Christians, because we are not authentic. We can’t win souls with this kind of living. But the question is: Where do you belong? Are you worshipping God with your lips or from your hearts? The decision is yours.

May God help us to be authentic Christians. Amen.
Have a blessed day.

Theme:BE CLEANSED OF YOUR LEPROSY
( 2 Kg 25:1-12, Ps 137, Mat 8:1-4)

Leprosy was a disgraceful disease among the Israelites and in the time of Jesus. The case for me is not different in our time. One became an outcast, because you couldn’t mingle with people but remained at the outskirts of the town or city. Therefore, it was a disease that no one wished for others not even for your enemies. And this was the situation that the leper found himself. No wonder he became desperate in seeking for a cure. He approached Jesus personally, and begged for his healing touch. Of course, Jesus didn’t disappoint him.

Our leprosy is one of spiritual case, which is sin. We are all lepers needing cleansing from Jesus. Sin has put us in a disgraceful state that we need Jesus to deliver us. It has equally disconnected us from God and our fellow humans.

Again, any situation in our lives which has brought shame and discomfort in our lives, I consider as leprosy. Some of these situations make us shy to even go to public places. It might be marriage issue just like the the Samaritan woman, your work, finances, family issues to mention a few. I pray today for you that God should deliver you from all forms of leprosy in your life. So that you can become whole again just like leper.

Trust the cleansing power of God, that he is able to do all things. I know the God I worship, therefore I want you to also put all your hope in him. He will never fail.

May God cleanse us from all our leprosy today. Amen .
Have a blessed day.

Theme: Distance is not a barrier in matters of Faith
(Lamentation 2:2,10-14, 18-19,Ps 74, Mat 8:5-17)

Beloved in Christ, for Jesus distance can never be a barrier in the performance of his great deeds. What is important is faith in him. The centurion came to Jesus for the healing of his servant, who was seriously ill. He left his servant at home with the belief that the words of Jesus were enough for his or her healing. And Jesus confirmed his faith that he needed not to be physically present to heal his son. The man really believed in his words of healing from a distance. And truly he experienced a miracle in relation to his servant. His servant became totally healed by the words of Christ.

Sometimes we belittle the power of Jesus. As if to say that his power is limited in space. It doesn’t matter where you are and the location you want to direct your prayer. Once the prayer is said in faith, definitely the effects would be there. May be you want to pray for someone who is sick but not physically present. It is a matter of praying in faith and the effects would be realized.

Some of us are part of those school of thought who believe in touch. For such people if they are not touched, then they can’t experience any effects of the prayer made. It is time for us to change our perception about this matter ofa faith. The official didn’t need Jesus to go to his house. Jesus only spoke the word with authority and there was effects.

The Centurion really expressed extraordinary faith in Jesus . ” Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my servant shall be healed”. Jesus was marvelled at his faith. He told Jesus that he is a man of authority, and when he gives orders, even though he is not present but his orders are followed.

We are equally people of authority, who don’t need space to operate.Wherever you are just direct your prayer in faith and there would be a power of transformation. You have that power and authority in you. Don’t undermine it at all.

May God help us to mature in our faith to experience his power of transformation in our lives .Amen.
Have a Blessed Weekend.
