*Theme: Be steadfast in prayer in difficult moments
( Acts 4: 23-31,Ps 2, Jn 3:1-8)

The disciples of Jesus were persecuted by the Jewish leaders, because of the wonders they were performing through the name of Jesus. Peter and John for instance were arrested for healing a lame man and preaching afterwards to the people to believe in Jesus. But after their released from custody, the entire disciples gathered to pray for strength to carry on with the mission of Christ.

Beloved, the Christian journey is not a rosy one. Sometimes we will be persecuted because of our faith. When you want to be different especially in this our corrupt world, definitely you will face persecutions. It is true that some people do not want to even hear of the name of Jesus because of the kind of spirit they possess. Such people will always oppose you because of your faith in Jesus. They will oppose everything that has to do with you, even if it is a good thing. Once you have become a follower of Christ, you become a threat to some people. They become uncomfortable with your presence. As Christians, it is better to have this at the back of our minds. We can only overcome such people with persistent prayer life. It becomes a spiritual battle and demands a spiritual approach.

Unfortunately, some of us end up battling them physically. You cannot win such people by fighting them physically. Sometimes they only want to provoke you physically so that you will lose focus. We have some of these people in our work places, our homes, our neighborhood, in the church and others. Someone may ask me why the church? Yes, it is not everyone who comes to church who possesses the spirit of God. In fact, some people are in the church with their own evil intentions. You better be aware and be on guard.

May the resurrection power of Jesus touch us today and make us continue to be prayerful always in our lives as Christians. Amen. Have a Blessed Week.

*Theme: Be Generous with your Possessions
( Acts 4: 32-37,Ps 93, Jn 3:7-15)

The early Christians of the early church according to the Acts of the Apostles, were of one heart and soul. They shared everything in common. No one was possessive of any of their personal possessions. They gave all they had to the service of the community. They gave great testimony and powerful witness to the resurrection of Christ through these virtues.

The things we have must be used to serve God and our neighbors. These are gifts coming from God and not our own. Yes it is true that we can’t discount the efforts being made to acquire them. But as people of faith, we know that without God our efforts will be nothing. Without God we would have had nothing. Some of us don’t even want people to touch anything of ours, we are too possessive.

The disciples made sure that there was no needy persons among them. Some of them sold their properties and availed the proceeds for the common good of the Christian family. Some of us think only about ourselves and not others. Truly if we should be very generous with our possessions, we wouldn’t be having poor people among us. As Pope St. John Paul II once said ” The world has enough resources for all but it is greed that has created poverty among us” Some of us are too self-centered. We only think about ourselves and no one else. It is all about what I will get, what I will eat, what I will buy and so forth.

This is very evident whenever we give material things such as clothings to church members to share. You will see some people grabbing everything for themselves and their families without thinking about others. We are hoarding things that we don’t use and we don’t need. Just be sincere with yourself, there are things you have not used for years but you are still keeping them. Please give them out to people who are in need of them. If you have a dress or a cloth and you have not used it for over six months or more then possibly you don’t need it, give it out.

We are all guilty in this especially our ladies. Our rooms and houses have become more of warehouses, please let us free the places to get fresh air. Today I want you to touch the life of someone through your acts of generosity. Put a smile on the face of someone.

May the resurrection power of Jesus touch us today and transform us to be generous people . Amen.
Have a Blessed Day.

Theme: Trust in the Protection of God
(Acts 5: 17-26,Ps 34, Jn 3:16-21)

The Jewish leaders continued the persecution of the early church by arresting all the apostles. Their aim was to frighten and discourage them from speaking in the name of Jesus. But God sent his angels to deliver them from prison in a miraculous way. Miraculously, because the prison doors and the guards were in tact, but they were taken out of the place. This is how marvelous the Lord does his things. We are told the High Priest and the other persecutors were so marvelled and afraid of the incident.

God will not abandon you in the hands of your adversaries. People will always plan evil for you, but God will always rescue you from their evil intentions. They will fabricate stories and project negative images about you. Just trust in the powerful hand of God. It doesn’t matter the kind of prison they have kept you, whether spiritual or physical, God will come to your aid. All their efforts will come to nothing. In fact, they will fail. They themselves will come to appreciate the hand of God upon you and give testimony to people about that.

As I have always said, evil can never triumph over good. It is just a matter of time. What you are going through will come to an end one day. Be patient and wait on the Lord in prayer. I know some of us are having sleepless night and are in pain because of persecutions in our work places, homes, churches, and so forth. Jesus is with you. Tell yourself I am an overcomer and I will never give up, for the Lord is on my side.

May the resurrection power of Jesus touch us today and deliver us from all forms of prisons that we find ourselves. Amen. Have a Blessed Day.

*Theme: Obey God not Human beings
( Acts 5: 27-33,Ps 34, Jn 3:31-36)

The apostles never gave up in preaching about Jesus. As a result, they were arrested again and brought before the high priest and his council of elders. They thought this will put fear in the apostles, because this was the highest religious authority among the Jews. But Peter told them without fear or favor the fact that they will rather obey God and not them. According to him, they are giving witness to what they have seen and heard and not even the Jewish leaders can stop them.

Sometimes out of fear of people we stop obeying God. We stop to do the right thing at our work places, homes, churches, and so forth, in order to please people. The devil uses people to discourage us of becoming true witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Some of us have become the conscience at the various places we find ourselves. But people will hate us for this, hence they will fabricate all stories to project negative images about us. But we have to be strong in faith and stand by the truth always. Don’t let intimidation, chastisement, gossip, insults and other forms of negative character assassinations to discourage you. Once you are doing the right thing, definitely people will stand against you.

People of this age don’t like the truth and people who stand by the truth. Hence, we don’t have to stop witnessing to the Christian faith in order to please people. St Paul says that those who know they are doing the right thing should continue to do it. It worth enduring and obeying God than men. Our blessings and favours come through these acts of faith.

Even before kings, presidents, and all powerful authorities, continue to witness to Jesus. Don’t be afraid of anyone because of threats. God will surely deliver you in their hands.

May the resurrection power of Jesus touch us today and strengthen us to always obey Jesus in our lives . Amen.
Have a Blessed Day.

Theme: Present the little you have to Jesus (Acts 5:34-42, Ps 27, Jn 6:1-15)

The Lord Jesus had compassion on a crowd of about five thousand people, not counting women and children. He fed them with five loaves of bread and two fish. This was after feeding them spiritually and healing some of them from illnesses.

Jesus is concerned about both our spiritual and physical welfare. The disciples didn’t believe that they can get food to feed all the people, because they didn’t have the means to do that. But they forgot that they had Jesus with them who is capable of anything. They only needed to present the little they had and Jesus will multiply it to feed all the people. After this encounter I believe their faith had increased in Jesus, because there was even a left over of twelve baskets.

We need to also have faith in Him and present the little that we have. He can change that little to make it blossom. In the eyes of Jesus, there is nothing like a hopeless situation. Your money for the business you want to begin might be too small, but when you invite Jesus into it , He will bless it and that small business will become a flourishing one. You may be coming from an unknown background, but when Jesus is with you, your story will definitely change. You only need to invite Him into the situation and He will turn things around for your good.

Some of us complain too much just like the disciples, even when Jesus is in the situation with us. We sometimes forget that Jesus is a God of possibilities. Impossibility is not in his dictionary.

May He increase our faith in Him in moments when we are giving up. And may the Lord also have compassion on you today and come into your situation. Amen .
Have a Blessed Day
Shalom. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
